Nel in Thought
Nel in Thought by @GuardianKnight5 (Nathaniel Christopher)

I did this sketch one night, after being inspired by the rpg I've been playing recent, Star Ocean: Til the End of Time. This sketch is of the character Nel Zelpher, a spy operative from the Kingdom of Aquaria on the planet of Elicoor II. I'm not quite sure what made this come out this way, but lately I found that I have a bit of an infatuation for this character, in fact she may be my favorite character for the entire game. I feel there's alot more to the character than what the game shows of her, and I tried to show that with this image, as she seems to be more on the softer, contemplative side, as if emmersing herself in deep thought. This originally started out as just a sketch, but by deciding to leave it as a black and white image it gives it more of a serene quality and the lack of color keeps it from gettign distracting to look at. Thusly once it was scanned I found myself playign around with layers and filters, esssentially I copied the sketch image, placed a copy layer over top of the original image with a multiply effect to it, followed up by dry brush filter. I liek how this one turned out and I hope to so more like this.

What the--I had no idea this image was by you! It's so different from your usual work--in a good way. You've definetly improved a lot--maybe it's from being an official colorist on Gaia. Congrats on that, again. Sorry for the short comment, I have to go--but great work!

I believe it's more so that I don't usually do pencil work that I intend to keep as pencil work. Experimenting with Photoshop due to being a colorist has opened up my mind to trying some new things and fiddling with some of what the program has to offer. Even after taking courses in Photoshop I still have yet to use the full potential of it, nor have I learned to that extent. It's amazing what just a slip of a filter can do to just a pencil sketch.
