Ocean Wash
Ocean Wash by @laursefc (Lauren Sefchik)

This is something I did back in 1999 (GAG! High School...) in my Design Technology class using nothing but Adobe Painter program or something. It's been so long ago I hardly remember.

Anyway, I was pressed for time and to think of something quick. I figured the cliche seascape would be good enough. So I hashed this little number together with a simple calligraphy pen tool and then filled it in with different colors and gradients. Of course, I got marked off points for not staying within the guidelines and having my other shapes move 'out of the box', but after I looked at it again, I really liked it. Hell, it's the only piece I really liked from that class.

I enjoy the pure kindergarten simplicity and bright colors. The little crab is my favorite, so that's why I moved the watermark over to the other side. It's a piece that isn't worth a million dollars (or ten for that matter), but it made me appreciate that even the most eye-appealing artwork doesn't have to be complex, it can be simple too.
