Stripped of Innocence
Stripped of Innocence by @laursefc (Lauren Sefchik)

Well, I've had a lot of comments about this picture. It's another wonderful 1999 picture from a series I was writing (then put down, then picked back up, then put down again) titled The Blue Angels. It's somewhat got a storyline that's a bit of Evangelion, a bit of Gundam Wing, and a bit of...well....weird surgically implanted energy stones that turn a human into a full-fledged living space mech, and no religious content mentioned (said for the following things below).

Nicholas is one of 12 pilots (I think), and basically he's the 'innocent' one of the group since he's the youngest of all of them (16 years). During the series, his Angel, Mace, has a Dark element to it, and it constantly corrupts his judgement. Later on more and more things happen to him which eventually put poor Nicholas into a psychological disarray. Therefore, this piece was representing him trying to tug away the clothes that represented him as the Mace pilot: the clothes that have taken away his innocence and joy.

It's not meant to hint at anything other than that. But due to the unzipped pants, I figured I needed to slap a rating on it.

Nicholas was drawn, scanned, and then reprinted out (I hate putting permanent color on original copies). A base layer of colored pencils followed by smidgens of marker were placed on wonderous computer paper. And then I had the gall to put thick layers of unwatered-down watercolor paints. Needless to say, the paper curled up like nobodys business. ^_^* And that's why it stays in a heavily armed folder to keep it smashed flat at all costs! Mwahahaa!!!

BTW: Nicholas Parker was not named after, nor inspired by a certain blond-haired Backstreet Boy that will remain nameless! Artwork © Copyright 2002 Lauren Sefchik

He's beautiful. He still looks innocent though, I like that. Is there more of that story line? It sounds really interesting. You've got a lot of talent.

There's a lot more to the story than originaly meets the eye. Like I said before, he's one of 11 other pilots in the story, and later on 7 more pilots from the opposing force become prominent figures in the story. Each charcter is intertwined in a web of histories, events, and lies which binds almost every character in the story to one another in some way, shape or form.

^_^

Thank you for the comment! I greatly appreciate it.

Nicholas Parker. Bishounen-ness. _ "His angel has a dark element.." gah! Now I'm curious. But if that made me curious, then something's obliviously catching about the idea. cough is it his angel making the clothes go away, or is there more to this picture? XD

LOL!! No, the 'Angel' was actually surgically implanted underneath his stomach. The Angels are somewhat fantasy-elemental based, so they morph their pilot, merge, and coexist together. The Angels are based off of a living energy that powers them and therefore, the pilot has to be compatible with the mech their piloting, or else the 'transformation' won't accept. Since Mace is the Angel of the 'Dark' element, it means that the pilot would have to have (or be burdened with) a darker desire, hatred, or unspoken pain that constantly causes the person mental turmoil. Mace can only be piloted by unstable psychosis (which is kind of ironic, ne?). So later in the series, you get to understand Mace's piloting schematics, and then later on Nicholas' plot becomes revealed on his hidden hatred, guilt and lonliness. ^_^

The clothes merge into the entire transformation. There's no shoujo Sailor Moon transformations goin' on. LOL ^_~

The image is filled w/ emotion, which makes it interesting and different. The choice of b/g makes it even more interesting & dramatic. I really really really like it. Personally I can see all the time, effort, attention, & thought put into it, which makes all the hard work worth it. Keep it up. -Kinabaki

Thank you so much ^_^

Yea, Nicholas has probably gotten the most shout-outs by the girls ever since I first drew this picture. ^_^* I really didn't know what to do for a background, so I figured that an organic one out of a solid color would best suit it.
