Thank you for your critique, and I do understand what you mean ^_^ I actually did use the tone on tone technique on an earlier piece and didn't get the desired effect, so now I'm experimenting with this method. This is only maybe my third fully-toned pic, so I'm far from hitting my stride yet ^^
I have seen other artists use this method, though they were admittedly Ameri-manga artists (which I love, but some others don't).
This is interesting... I really like the pose, style and expression. I'm a little iffy on the usage of manga-style tones, mainly because you paint highlights over the main gray tone used for the body, which would usually be another tone rather than painted over. I'm not sure if I'm saying that correctly, but hopefully ou get what I mean. Great changing line widths, I dig it. :-) Thanks for posting!
