I think this was around the time I'd stumbled upon the Chernobyl Mod, which included the dxdll add-on that makes a number of graphical improvements to the base engine. It took me a while to figure out where the controls were housed, and when I finally did I turned off a few features as they were dragging down the frame rate, but one will notice my OFP shots in 2010 have better lighting.
