SD Emilynn
SD Emilynn by @smarle (Staci/Nadia)

Just a quickie little SD of my FFB character that turned out to not be so quickie... ^^;;; I drew Emilynn a week or two ago and got lazy with the inking and coloring, so last night, I just did it all really quickly... ^^;;;;

Emilynn is a White Mage who has amnesia. All she remembers is a need to be a White Mage to heal people and wreak divine justice on the wicked. She gets rather enthusiastic about that last part, hence the expression and shaking fist in this image, LOL. Clearly, she doesn't dress like your typical Final Fantasy White Mage. I wanted her to have white hair and blue eyes, and I was picturing a dress in white and blue. What I was imagining was sort of like one of Ariel's dresses from The Little Mermaid, so I added in the green frill in the skirt to further individualize the outfit. I really like braids, so I gave Emilynn a big one. It's a braid that falls down her back, but since you wouldn't see it normally in this position, I moved it over her shoulder so it would be visible.

Emilynn was colored with Prismacolor pencils and markers. I think we really need to get new light peach markers, 'cause all of ours are pretty dead, at least in the thin end... ^^;; The colors leaked a little while I was coloring, but it was SUPPOSED to be a quickie, so I don't mind too much... ^^;;; I made a couple of mistakes while I was inking, but they don't look too bad, either...

I'll try to do a full-sized Emilynn picture soon and work a little more on her design!

Glad you finally finished this. Nifty! I like the pleated skirt.

Her staff seems rather short, but maybe you like it that way, I dunno.

The only other thing is, with SDs the size is usually in the head, I think, not the feet. But, LOL, it's cute, and she's pretty.

Can't wait to see a full-sized version!

I like pleated skirts, too... ^-^ Pleats and braids, what a combo... ;)

Her staff is actually maybe medium-length...? You just can't see the rest of it, which is blocked by her dress/legs.

I have a weird SD style, LOL... Sowwy... ^^;;; Her fist and arm should probably be a bit bigger, actually... ^^;;

Glad you liked, though... ^-^

Auuugh, sorry for commenting so late, Nadia!

I just love this. I've never seen an SD quite like this, and I think it really suits your style! I also like the quick marker work -- it reminds me of the coloring on the Tales of Symphonia character designs. It's rough, but appealing.

The drawing and pose look great -- my only complaints would be the placement of the thumb (something's not quite right, but I can't put my finger on it....har har!) and her staff (it looks like the other end should show, but I don't know, it depends on the angle and how long the thing is). Emilynn's facial expression is very cute & enthusiastic, and I like how you chose a common mannerism of hers for a pose.

As for the design itself -- two thumbs up! I love her hairstyle and the outfit is very cute. Also, she doesn't remind me of any existing characters. You managed to be original, while keeping the design simple. Very kawaii ^_^

No worries!

I don't think this pic's nearly as nifty as the ToS designs, but thanks! ^^;;; LOL, cute pun, but yeah, I see what you mean about the thumb... I think it's too short...? As for the staff, maybe I'm imagining a different angle than you guys are seeing...? I should be more clear on staff angle in the future, I think. Something to work on!

I was trying to think of a pose for Emilynn, and that just seemed too perfect, LOL... Glad you like her!
