Side 7 Secret Santa 2006
Side 7 Secret Santa 2006 by @Roadstripe (CyberCorn Entropic)

For my Side 7 Secret Santa 2006 picture to Red Leader (AKA Miguel Castaneda), I drew his robot character Dyzenos from his webcomic Dynamic Destroyer Dyzenos heroically struggling to escape from an "anomaly of the week" type thing.

Yes, I am a TransFan.

No shame in being a Transfan! XD

As I said in my reply, awesome work and I love it! ^^

Also, the very best things in the World are "of the week" type! XD

Thank you. I'm glad I succeeded in doing your character justice. :) Both Dreamwave (before it tanked) and IDW (companies who have recently published Transformers comics) were big influences on the more "realistic" take on robots I've shown here. In the past, my robots tended to look simpler and more cartoony in the hands and joints. For all its faults, Dreamwave was the final nail in the coffin on convincing me that more realistic detail was (to me) better. Also, the wreath-like anomaly was just my way of getting out of drawing Dyzenos's legs, since you had yet to reveal what they looked like. :P By the way, to make a robot look bigger, make its head smaller in proportion to its body. ;)

Yeah, it does feel like a Dreamwave picture. :) I love robots so much and yet I draw them so rarely... When I do, I always try to make them as detailed and as realistic as possible--which usually leads to a lot of erasing, handwringing, and sometimes abandonment of the picture... ^^;;;; In anycase, you did it so well, it only makes me sad to think the only reference you had was that one picture which features the unit at its barest (the cockpit module isn't supposed to be exposed like that but the chest plating hasn't been completed at this point in the story and hasn't been equipped yet, not to mention all the other upgrades and weapons that it'll receive as the series goes on).

As for the wreath... Yeah... I was wondering about that.. It didn't occur to me until you mentioned it that Dyzeno's legs aren't visible in any of the stuff I've put online yet. ^^;;;;;; That's fine, though... I think I want to redesign the lower half one of these days, anyway.

And thanks for the advice! XD
