A Side 7 exclusive! Public-facing works at Te Wananga Whakairo Rakau, Maori national School of Carving, Te Puia, New Zealand. Whakario is sometimes referred to as the Maori written language for its embedded symbolism. Originally the school encompassed both woodworking and stone and bone carving; these were moved into a dedicated school, Te Takapū o Rotowhio, in 2009.
