Yes, this fact is canonical to Ruby's character! When the girl drinks she can be too energetic, openly affectionate, somewhat clumsy and unpredictable during her mood swings. Zeke despises that she drinks alcohol in the first place; he would much rather prefer her smoking weed. However, he cannot get involved in what she and what his brother, Razor, allows her to do. By doing so will interfere with their relationship, and involve Zeke to act as "a challenger trying to steal away his mate from him", or so his brother has mentioned in some way.

So, trying not to involve himself to be around Ruby much (especially when his brother is around), he'll make excuses and keep himself in his room to avoid conflict altogether. If that don't work, he depends on her best friend, Johnny, to watch over and keep her from overdoing things. Especially putting him in situations like this one here. Sometimes that doesn't work so well, so it's a constant frustration for the punk hyena to put up with. It's gotten him in trouble a few times due to her wild actions, but it can't be his fault he gets a hard-on or accidentally touching her with the way she acts and how she invades his personal space. I mean, it's his dream girl after all.
