Waiting for Crono
Waiting for Crono by @smarle (Staci/Nadia)

This is the textless version of my February 2005 top image, which I finished and had up on my website at 11:58pm, February 28, just in the nick of time, LOL...

I knew February's image would have to be of Crono and Marle (though I did have a few ideas with Glenn and Lucca), but I didn't know what scene I wanted. I'd already done a picture of the two of them being carried away by balloons, and Death Peak seems like a scene that's already been done several times before. I thought about doing a pic from the ending where Marle waits for Crono herself at Death Peak, but I didn't want to have to worry about weird Death Peak lighting, since I was really running out of time. So, I finally came up with Marle as Leene waiting for Crono to come for her at the beginning of the game in 600AD, which seemed like it'd be simple enough to do quickly... ^^;;;;

This was deeeeeeeeefinitely a rush job... ^^;;; The characters were done with Prismacolor markers (and white gel pen, of course... ^^;;), and the horrible background was done in Photoshop. If I had more time, I probably would've made the filter look better on the "windowsill" and just made it look better overall, but oh, well. They can't all be winners, I guess... ^^;;

While this isn't your best work, it's still really cute and has a sweet feeling to it. I think your coloring skills are getting better all the time, so keep it up! You've done a great job with the faces--I think the real issue is in Marle's neck and shoulders. Although it seems unrealistic, her neck should probably be a bit thinner, and her shoulders a little higher and more rounded--although that is difficult to convey with puffed sleeves. Anyways, keep up the great work, and I'm really glad the white gel pen is working out for you. What brand did you end up buying?

Hmmmm, you're right about the neck and shoulders... With the neck, I think I might've been expecting a bigger body, and I never took into account the fact that the position her arms were in would lift her shoulders... ^^;;; Thanks!

I got a Uni-Ball Signo white gel pen. It was one of the only white ones I could find the day I went shopping for one... It's been doing well for me, though sometimes it takes a little time to get the ink to start coming out.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm impressed by how you did Crono's hair. And really.. It's not such a bad picture.. :\ Sure, it could've been improved in some areas, but I think it's actually quite nice and you shouldn't be so hard on yourself.
