Junicorn 2022 #8 - Joy by @fragmented_imagination (B Sanders)
"Decades ago, a little girl made a wish on a balloon horse to share her joy with others forever and crowned it with a broken piece of her favorite toy. Since then, parents, business owners, and landlords have been exasperated with celebrations, as the little girl accidentally brought the balloon animal to life and allowed it to set out on a worldwide journey to bring joy to others. Dubbed "Partycorn", this creature travels the world in search of the next celebration with the aim of cranking up the fun to its limit. Unfortunately, the appearance of Partycorn inspires a lack of restraint, encourages consumption, and leaves incredible messes in its wake. Partycorn itself does not act with malice, apparently unaware that its antics and shifting parties into high gear ignores the consequences awaiting the cleanup afterwards. There is no way to stop it; Partycorn is indestructible even assuming one were to catch it. Many insurance companies and businesses have put in clauses to help compensate for the inevitable disaster, and news networks all over track Partycorn's movements as accurately as they track the weather."
I'm not sure what to say about this one. I spent the whole day trying to figure out how I was going to work with "joy" as the subject. Then I came up with "balloon unicorn". Which became sentient. I was hoping that the simplicity of the design would make sketching it out easier, but, in my rush, the shapes came out awkward. Still. This is another piece I'm pleased with simply because it feels more complete than some of the other Junicorn pictures I've done so far.
