Back when I was managing a respectable pace, I was worried the war would end before lord_joakim returned to lead us into the "real" main story, the Gem arc. In consultation with @GenMarshall, I'd devised a placeholder plot loosely spun out of the "true" origins of the FEV; this in turn inspired a backstory between Krieger, Schäffer and Ekkehard set in the days of the First Nazi War that, while never fully explained, offers a small window into understanding the dynamic between the three.
