Shelter
Shelter by @laursefc (Lauren Sefchik)

This is part one of my Color Theory class assignment dealing with warm and cool colors. So that means the inspiration for this piece was my grade. ^_^*

The subject matter was Micah from my game I'm writing, Aislins TARU, and this time he's with Mook, the Earth Guardian. This isn't really a scene from anything, I just needed a concept, and since Whistler got a nice piece of glory in getting a sculpture made of her, I figured it was time to create the next guardian.

Medians used were a simple sketch rendered on to Bristol board. Afterwards, everything was done in guache paint. That was the criteria. Luckily I make myself organic scenes, so I don't need any straight lines (I CAN'T DO THEM!!), and if I mess up, I can just go over it again with more paint. Therefore, you'll see a lot of 3D texture because of all the different paint layers and thicknesses found due to screw-ups, follies, or the simple fact that the stupid paint dried faster than it takes to cook minute rice!

Despite the fact that I had to use entirely cool colors to make the composition, I like this one the best, colorwise and moodwise out of the two. However, that doesn't shirk my love for the warm composition version. smirk Artwork © Copyright 2002 Lauren Sefchik
