No More Room by @jeaney1 (Sara Timmons)

Medium: Colored pencils (prismacolor)

This drawing was looking at the fact that with all the scientific laws, with all the realities, with all the truths in the world, is there really anymore room to truely believe in faeries?

I think so. Do you?

This drawing is one I hope to redo some day soon to bring it up to a higher standard. Please critiques are welcome & encouraged.

I love the concept of the picture. While science says fairies cannot exist we believe they do since they can exist in our minds. I like the depressing look to the fairy. It almost gives a feeling of death too. All of the shading is beautiful, but some areas do not look very well defined with the lightness the application of color, but this is probably just something I am used to in my own style.

Thanks ^_^

I know what you mean about it being defined, thats one reason I'd like to redo it.

Very neat idea and good execution. Subtle yet literal at the same time. The faerie is nicely drawn, well in proportion and nicely shaded. I agree with nolani that some areas - the books and background in particular - could do with more definition, and also the back of her head needs to be a little more rounded. Other than that, though, it's lovely work. Very expressive. If you believe, then fae exist.

I see what you mean by the back of her head. I will fix that in my revision of it.

This is an amazing picture. The concept behind it is just... perfect. I really would love to show this to my skeptical friends. When people look for so much in science and 'facts' they loose some of the most beautiful parts of the world--sometimes what we don't fully iunderstand is beautiful because of it. Uhm, I can't see what I'm typing right now cause the website seems to be acting up, so please forgive me. If and when you finish what you feel is the final version of this image--sell prints! I know I'd buy some.

You also should perhaps consider doing an image where the faery is pushing out from under the books--because there are definetly those of us who still bellieve in faeries--whereas I don't believe that faeries rely on us or our belief to exist, I think that they are struggling out from the years to relegate them to children's stories or the realm of things that aren't, because as you can see, there is a lot more interest in them now than there has been in the past. In the past few years alone, lots, and i mean LOTs of books have been published on them, pictures have been drawn of them... they are coming back! And its artists like you that can help them along. don't give up!

I want to thank you very much for so many kind words. I'm glad you can see what I see. I was also considering an image like you suggested, of a fae breaking free of the bonds of science and reality.

I want to be able to show even more emotion in the revision of it. I think my world would crumble if the people I tried to help and give joy to, didn't believe in me and my world.

Thanks for the comment!!

There's certainly room if you push the stacks of books of science into a dusty little corner, as I've been doing all my life. ^_-

Nice drawing. It looks a bit faded, but then again, it kind of fits the picture if you think about it. It's a very cool drawing, and also really thought provoking. But I'm so tired, I can barely remember where the keyboardkeys are, much less where fairies fit in the big picture. o_.
