Nope! I don't use fixative..though Prismacolor sells a special fixative you can buy especially for the pencils. When I color, I color several light layers of shading with the middle shade, then successively harder layers with the shadow, and then I blend it all together by overlaying with the White pencil. Also, for darker colors, I use the Clear Marker Blender to smooth out the white spots that result from textured paper and to smooth out the shades in general. One day, I'll have a prismacolor tutorial up..but for now, I HIGHLY recommend investing in a Colored Pencil Set like this one that has a sharpner, Clear Marker Blender, eraser, sketching pencil, and a pencil lengthener for those little stubby pencils:D Hope that helps you out some! Keep practicing and experimenting with them! I learn something new every time I draw with them.

You have such amazing lighting skills. The way you have the fire glowing and reflecting off of him truly amazes me--I can't believe you do this all in Prismacolors. I mean, I can, but... wow! It's truly amazing. The details, like the blood falling off of him, and those eyes and the feathers are absolutely wonderful. How do you prevent the pencils from smearing, though? I never could keep my white colors that vibrant. Do you use a lot of fixative, or are you just lucky? :) And what parts do you color first--the lightest to darkest, or do you start with the darkest and move on to lightest?
I'd like to improve my Prismacolor work, and you seem like a good person to ask considering your mad talent. :)
