Flaming Birth; Beautiful End
Flaming Birth; Beautiful End by @aodhnait (Kitty Ryan)

Tehanu Anym revisited. This scene shows her rising from a dragon as a womam, or it shows her last moments, when she allowed herself to die by water so as to let the new Namer take her place. It depends on your frame of mind. I did intend for it to be the latter, though. I have another version, where she actually is letting herself drown, but the background has been giving me grief. Plus, I quite like this plainer one. Oh, and congratulate me. Why? Because I've been trying to draw Tehanu for over three years now, nearer to four. This is the first time she's turned out nearly the way I imagine her. I'm so happy!

Media: The Water Soluables (what else?) Derwent Markers for part of the hair, an Artline finepoint pen and photoshop.

This picture is gorgeous, and oh so incredibly sad. I love how it can be either/or - birth or death. Poor Tehanu, and poor Komu. By the way, I'm still working on writing his death sniff and then I hope to draw a picture of him. If it took you a long time to get Tehanu, there is absolutely no way I could ever draw her, or at least draw her right. Though a picture of Komu and Tehanu together would be wonderful.
