After The Storm
After The Storm by @denise (Denise Chan)

Speedpaint. (Not because I know how long I spent on this - I don't - but based on how finished it is.)

Playing with atmospherics. Does it look too much like nighttime? Does it look stormy at all?

First shipwreck I ever painted - boy, ships are difficult. Especially without reference. Bad me.

The grey sky and clouds do give a good stormy feel to the picture, as do the whitecaps even out in the distance. The sun is a little dim, which makes it hard to see as such. Either showing a few fragments of blue sky peeking through the clouds or defining the clouds up and to the left of the sun would help make it look more like a stormy day. It's a lovely painting regardless, the scenery is nicely portrayed, even in the simple style you've painted it, and personally, for what of the ship you've shown in this image, it looks fine to me. The lighting on it is particularly nicely rendered. Good job.

Thank you for the detailed critique!! beams

I never thought of adding blue sky or other things that yell 'day!!!' - thanks for the reminder! (as it is, even I am beginning to see it as night, so I may as well give up and call it such. ;))

What a cool mood this picture sets : D I can just imagine the quiet beach with no sound other than the waves... Kina creepy with the abandoned boat there, but very pretty nonetheless ^^

Thanks for the comment! :) And for letting me know how you feel about the picture - still working on lighting and mood. Glad you like it!
