Splash into Summer
Splash into Summer by @Dekeve (Helen Lauzau)

Full illustration of Elaine relaxing in her pool! I told myself this would be a simple idea to do...I was totally wrong, it took forever. I painted so many different things in this illustration that I never have before; I learned so much but it was a struggle. I'm satisfied with the result, nonetheless!

I want to try making a few illustrations with simple backgrounds (like this) and work my way up to more detailed ones. The idea was that they wouldn't take as long to do, but it's clear that this is uncharted waters for me. But I'll never improve if I don't try, so try I shall!

(For the record, I detest summer, I don't do well with the heat. I like swimming though and would like to find myself in a pool very soon.)

Marked Teen for alcohol.

As someone who hates backgrounds and will take any shortcut he can, you have my sympathy. :P You've done a great job of communicating the pool's depth.

PLEASE tell me they have those peacock floats IRL.
