The Phantom Menace
The Phantom Menace by @Thorvald (El Thorvaldo)

My 17th submission to DYOS VIII.

Much like me, taillesskangaru is a huge C&C fan (albeit skewing more toward the Tiberium universe), and the Brotherhood of Nod had basically been canonized as one of the stories' permanent factions since his emergence in DYOS 6. I don't recall how much it featured in this thread, but given Kane's utterly inscrutable methods, it's the sort of shadowy wildcard that immediately adds to the suspense wherever it crops up.

It was at this point I'd decided on Richtofen as the plot's diabolical mastermind—his appearance in late-game DYOS 6 had demonstrated he had the resources to muster an army and drive to aim big. It may also have been a covert way to indirectly put the blame on Stylesrj. :B For whatever reason I was still holding off on the grand reveal, with the consequence that the thread subsequently collapsed into the outright flaming typical of this period without it ever becoming public knowledge until nearly eight years later.

Given where and how he appears in later threads, Grievous truly was a militaire sans frontières.
