UCS Flying Fox
UCS Flying Fox by @Thorvald (El Thorvaldo)

The USF-2 "Flying Fox" is the primary starfighter of the Eastern Union's (speculative) space fleet. Officially classified as a "light" strike fighter, it is a versatile powerhouse that punches above its weight: its primary armament is a pair of autocannons and a nose-mounted particle projectile cannon designed to bypass shielding and strike a vessel's hull directly, making it deceptively powerful against capital ships. A gunner controls three omnidirectional laser turrets for local point-defence, and a payload of guided missiles that can be manually navigated. The pilot can fly solo, although this makes effectively operating the latter weapons much more difficult.

I didn't have any specific reference for making this, although it vaguely reminds me of the F-18 Hornet crossed with the Mmrnmhrm X-Form from Star Control. The wings fold up to conserve space on the carrier. I tried to add deployable landing gear, but alas, that was just too fiddly. Originally the nose was smoother, and I saved the structure in case I revisit the model as a conventional jet.

Created and photographed in Lego Digital Designer.
