With the exception of DYOS 9, prior to the Consulate the opening conflict was usually whatever the thread starter decided it to be. The Avatar Wars wasn't debated so much as everyone thought "sure, why not?", but surprisingly held itself together well enough to reach an almost wholesome conclusion, even if it left enough loose ends for two sequels.

And did we never guess what we were getting into when we started this...
