I was notified I'd gained a follower, and when I went to the Followers page, it says "3 other members are following you" but only one is shown. Is this a bug, or are phantom watchers part of the "Hidden From User Directory" upgrade?

Um, strange. I'll look into this. It sounds like it could be a bug, but I'll see for sure.

Definitely a bug. I have confirmed that there is only one follower at this time.

These developments are concerning.

Now am I to understand that the site has been infiltrated by Insectoids that can render themselves invisible?

Not good man.
