@GenMarshall: I honestly don't know if OT culture is better or worse these days, though I largely fell off in the early 2010s. The progressive wing had a smooth guard-change, but that "affable diffidence" of people like VRWC et al. has been replaced by a hamster wheel of reactionary trolls recycling the same talking points ad nauseum in basically every discussion. It's reached the point where I can predict certain users' whole line of argument with unnerving accuracy.

@Thorvald: Oh it's gone worse. I'm thourougly convinced that there's a leak of toxic militant leftism streaming from the bowels of IOT discord into CFC OT. With the reelection of The Orange One, I'm just seeing history repeating itself. It's gotten to the point where I'd just said "Fuck it, I'm going back to DYOS and poking in the old classics of Civ". I'm putting my hope that the CFC Admins don't make NinjaCow a mod. If they do make NC a mod, I'm leaving CFC for good.

@GenMarshall: Honest question: Do you think this because there's a genuine tankie surge on the board, or because you're picking fights? I've seen your recent activity and the impression I get is your siege mentality tilting at windmills: if you keep going off about "leftists" at the slightest provocation, especially when it's irrelevant to the actual discussion, of course people will call you out. One day you're saying how glad you are that you're off the anti-SJW carousel, and the next you're unironically venting that "all _x are _y".
It's the Kan'/TK complex but worse, because now you're tarring a whole swath of people, in public, with a startling lack of self-awareness. Like, NC hasn't even posted since June—they're not making him a mod any time soon.
