Why I grew out of the crazy nick phase
15 Jun 2024, 07:53 PM

In my honest opinion, I'm not a fan of Nickelodeon like I used to be when I was 20 years younger. I feel it's because the TV shows and the vibe just don't appeal to me. This is especially because Nickelodeon has milked Spongebob and ruined the Fairly Odd Parents to the point where these shows overstayed their welcome for over a couple decades.

To be fair though, the only time I like Nickelodeon are certain shows like The Wild Thornberrys, Hey Arnold, Danny Phantom Chalkzone, and The Rugrats.

Other then that, I'm mostly into 2010s Cartoon Network, late 90s/2000s Playhouse Disney, and 1980s NBC, ABC, FOX, and CBS.

Aye, fair cop: I haven't really followed television for over a decade at this point, but since Legend of Korra wrapped I'm not sure what "good" shows Nick's put out in between running Hillenburg's legacy into the dirt. :x

@Thorvald: I do think the Danny Phantom theme song is cool, ghosts are cool, and there was that dairy king character.

@FurryKittens: Don't tell my Nicktoons friend, but I never actually finished Danny Phantom (though maybe I'll skip Season 3 HAV - Albert, Prince Consort).

@FurryKittens: Well in general I try to let people know they're seen as a means of user retention, plus I feel a certain obligation to anyone I've Friended. ;3 "Be the change you want to see in the world", and over on dA even my close friends barely keep up with me these days. :x

Sounds like we're from roughly the same age group/generation.

I feel Nickelodeon peaked when it aired ATLA and began to drop off HARD only a few years after that.

Can't exactly blame the live action shows like I've heard others blame for Nickelodeon's decline in quality, as far as I can remember they were always a staple (Sister to Sister, Keenan and Kel, etc)

But I think they had less use for animated series as they went deeper into the new Millenium and tended to go with the lamest, low quality shows.

Even Cartoon Network declined with their quality of cartoons too.

Legend of Korra and as shyte and I always felt any spin off of ATLA should have been a prequel.

Because WHEW, that would have been awesome, I also feel it would have been a better stage for the deeper delve into spirits and the spirit world.

@The-Wizard-of-Zaar: No worries, I'm aware that even Cartoon Network and Disney Channel screwed up, too. By the way, you check out my pictures once you have some time.
