Biography

[biography written as of 1999]

My real name is Vincent H. from New York City. I will not reveal any further information such as my last name because there's some evil people with no lives on the net. Some of the forumers who talked to me from the past still thinks that I'm female, but last time I checked, I'm male [don't get any ideas]. I'm currently enrolled at Brooklyn College majoring in CIS and trying to conquer study, work and time.

Now, I want to let you in on a little bit of my art life. Back in my public elementary school days, many kids drew in my school. The problem is that I never stopped drawing. I began in the third grade drawing and copying particular characters off of cartoon shows. I never considered myself to be a great budding artist bored with third grade stuff, but it's the many fascinations of the public that makes me one. I did move to a new school in third grade and I kept drawing because I needed sth to spark friendships. As I gone through elementary, I was confronted with an entrance exam to a fancy junior high school. One part of the exam was art and to prepare myself for it, I made it a priority to draw my best. This is one of my influential points in my art life. I passed art, unfortunately, I didn't pass the other subject of the exam. I continued through some other junior high school continuing to draw because I was bored and I needed sth to escape work and reality. I drew whenever I can, even in particular school projects, especially in high school where my Garfield period ended by my first try at comic style drawing in my sophomore year. I am, however planning to draw the Garfield Collection on the screen by next year. I was considered to be one of the best in talent art class. Everybody else has to take required art, but it's seems too simple for me. However, I did learn all about shading in talent art. I continued down to my senior year where I lost interest in my own characters because of my freedraw satire picture book, my addiction to the net and the schoolwork. I'm the only one still holding onto my drawing talents because it's all I have left. Some people I know just gave it up. My best friend from third grade whom, ironically, became friends with me because of my drawings, have gave it up as well. My other friend gave it up from freshman year because of the laziness and the cynical personality. I am happy to inform that my graphic pictures have influenced a lost friend to continue to hold onto his talents for a brief period. It's people like my friend [and you] who makes my talents special, important and unique; I thank you for that.

Since this page is about me, I decided to put something that I normally don't tell others on the net... the history of my fanart. I know that this is pretty long and some of you are not interested in reading plain text, but don't fall asleep yet. I started my fanart when I first got bored with the internet stuff. I started surfing into TLK sites and stumbled into the forums. I had no reputation on the net because I had just logged on for only a short period of time and I needed sth to do besides surfing around aimlessly like a nomad. I started discussions around it and ended up spending a lot more time there. I saw many forumers posting pictures of their fanart and since I have been drawing all my life, I decided to take crack at it. I did fairly well on the first picture, but I had doubts about it so I wanted to draw the perfect picture for this topic. I ended up drawing a whole lot of pictures. I gotten a lot of praise for posting them. It was pretty hard at that time to post pictures because I didn't have any access to any uploading devices nor the public computer's hard drive either. It was hard to see pass my flaws and neglected mistakes on my first attempt. I tried many different variations of the characters from the movie. I started getting better and better as I placed more time on each picture. After a while, I slowed down for a while all because I just can't break the pattern of the style I'm using.

I actually learned my HTML basics on the old forum and that interested me enough to stay on the net. I learned a lot more about the language and how the net works including email and the concepts of webpages. One day, I received a picture request from someone to draw a picture of a panther. I didn't know how to approach this situation. I never gotten a picture request before. I know I saw a few artists on the old forum fulfilling picture requests for other forumers, but I didn't realize that I will become one of them. I decided to take this path to see where it takes me. I received a couple of requests at first, then it got fairly large and took time away from me to fulfill them all. This was during my senior year in high school and I started to take in requests about three to four months before my graduation. I kept a balanced flow until the end where I had to cancel every requests that was left over. I hated to make some of the forumers wait that long so I just said a formal goodbye and took my three month vacation.

I was entering my college years three months later and I realize all the time I had after classes, so I decided to reopen my picture request service. This time I had a reputation and a bigger public attraction of my skills. A lot more people began requesting pictures every single week. I drew pictures at a much slower rate because I misunderstood college life and that the requests were pouring in a lot faster than I can draw them. As I'm writing this, the first semester is over and I have the second semester to worry about.

I have a lot of pictures and most of them are requested pictures. I decided to hone my skills in web designing and my picture viewer. I had a little extra time to learned HTML and a little of javascript that I use to fully improve my website since high school. I even had an inspiration of making the picture viewer, which is also improved. Back in high school, I started drawing TLK in a kind of pre-style where the image looks really jagged and not that smooth with little shading. I then started filling in the outline and more shading. I drew up until the first few pictures of the second request service until I realize that there's sth wrong with my screen and I've been drawing all my pictures smaller than expected. So, the older pictures look a little 'bent' or smushed by a few pixels. I decided to let this go when I began newer and better drawing styles and techniques like order of precedence, extreme drawing, smoother and thicker outline, more shading, more detailed drawing and made them the right size by adjusting my monitor settings. I also started drawing all my new pictures in 24 bit color jpg extension to retain all of the colors and to maintain smoothness on the pictures.
