@Thorvald: Most times the things we end up copying is not even and intentional thing it just happens cause something reverberated with us that makes us sub consciously replicate what we heard and loved. Inspiration is not meant to be bound by any kind of bounds just like imagination, it comes when you least expect it so don't feel insecure cause someone some where is also have that same feeling as you and was inspired but thinks what they create is not good enough to be noticed or worth the time. Often times it is the artist who holds themselves back not the art.

LittlePrayer-Dark Kitsunes United In Darkness-Calice's Last Moments by @XxTheCreativeKitsunexX (XxTheCreativeKitsunexX)
This was heavily inspired by Metallica and it shows cause I made a track that sounds like Nothing Else Matters and believe me when I say that was not what I was intending when I created the track from scratch. So fitting was the style of the track I kept it till I realized how close I was to Metallica's masterpiece.
Thankfully it is different enough to say its not a blatant rip off but it proves you NEVER know where inspiration will come from.
This track was made to represent one of the Dark Kitsunes characters Calice (prounonced Calous) being led to the gallows as the last Kitsune hunted down after a lengthy time, yet it was Calice who had stopped running and gave himself up. As he is being led up to the Gallows visions of his brothers and sisters and his beloved Adoptive father ran through his head, it had been so long since he saw them....now he will join them and the cycle will end, so he thinks.
"This is my last Sacrifice for these people, may they know peace when I am gone though...I am not the one they think I am nor am I responsible for this...but if this is the end and it will bring them rest then So it shall be" He thinks to himself as he steps up the stairs making his way to the noose dangling above his head. Finally after years of fighting and seeing those he loved and cared for killed in front of him and having to end his own adoptive father's life...it would finally come to end. The death bell rung loudly as the crowd of people gathered around jeering and spitting at him as he was pelted by rocks thrown by children and his hands bloodied and torn up by the ropes wrapped around them.
The noose was then lowered over his head and around his neck he could feel the rope dig into his tender neck and for once...he was at peace. The final bell rung and the trap door under his feet swung open. Calice closed his bloodied eyelids shut and welcomed his end without saying a word to anyone.

@XxTheCreativeKitsunexX: Aye, I once named a Russian general Brusilov without any conscious recognition of the historical leader. Meanwhile, I'll spend literal days mulling a script to a comic, and then some of my funniest pages are spur-of-the-moment gags that hit me in the shower/during commute. :p

I've never been much of a poet, which is probably why I've never been able to compose my own scores, and the few times I do actually get something approaching inspiration I get paranoid I'm subconsciously channelling stuff I've already heard.
But as they say: Good artists copy; great artists steal. :P
