@Thorvald: Quite a few people have likened my work to C&C games and the works of Robert Klepacki but I never actually hear it myself, it might be just the instruments I use as I prefer using a lot of retro synth effects and reverb settings for my works. I was told by a manager at a game store I frequent that she has nailed down "My style of music" when she hears it as it has a distinct sound and atmosphere she said to anything she has ever listened to. That being said I think a lot of what I make tends to lean towards retro inspired work which was so prevalent in the 80s and 90s. If that is the case then I have succeeded in my goal to make my music sound familiar and still stand out on its own.
GrandLaner Arcade-Boss Music 1-Razzle Dazzled by @XxTheCreativeKitsunexX (XxTheCreativeKitsunexX)
Made for a Cute Em Up Think Parodius or Cotton
And for a on permanent Hiatus GrandLaner Project This track was done up for a future production video game project coming after Galaxy Savior is complete
I wanted to hearken back to the 1990s Konami style music that was very prevalent in arcades at that time with the likes of Gradius and Parodius series of games as well as other companies like Data East and Capcom bringing out banging tunes in their games especially Konami's Monster Mauler arcade game which was heavy inspiration for this track.
The weapon select music is made to be a playful introduction to the zany world of Canolli Kingdom and what to expect weapon wise for the game, playful goofy and slightly heroic.
This was the game planned originally instead of Galaxy Savior as I always wanted to do a cute em up style game but because of my lack of understanding game mechanics and 2d 3d object building, was put to the side and Galaxy Savior took hold cause a space shooter is easier to work with for someone just starting out game development. @XxTheCreativeKitsunexX: Aye, it's not so much C&C-esque specifically as it is a call-back to that mid-to-late 90s zeitgeist bridging the MIDI era with the newer line of sound processors. The later games entrenched Klepacki's signature industrial rock style, but the original Command & Conquer and Red Alert wore their electronica inheritance on their sleeve.
It may just be because I've been bingeing Combined Operations, but the opening ten seconds has a real OG C&C groove. It's a far cry from Cute-'em-Up, but Tiberian Aurora is the first bona fide anime mod I've seen of the franchise. XD
