wheeeeee!! ^^ This is a picture of "firsts" :-) First of all, this is my first Kenshin pic! ^^ Yay! And secondly, this is my first oil painting as well ^^

I'm only on eps 3 of Kenshin, but I love it! Gwaaah, Kenshin's so fine! XD! I think him and Kaoru are really cute, so I'm glad they could be my first subjects. They were coloured in Derwent art pencils and oultined in india ink, since painting them in oils would make details impossible almost ^^;; They, along with the ground, are meant to be the warm, light parts of this picture to contrast the dark cool colours in the foliage/sky. They are also the focal point.

As for oil painting, it sure is an interesting medium ^^ What I found most interesting that unlike watercolor, gouache and acrylics, they cannot be thinned using merely water, so this had to be done in dry brush until I can get my hands on a thinner ^^ The results came out very "impasto" and somewhat abstract, which is a common look for oils, but I hope to get a thinner and work with them enough to be able to do more defined details in the future ^__^ It is definitely an enjoyable medium for all those already interested in paints ^^

The characters were drawn my style since I don't have too much knowledge on Kenshin chara design yet, and the pose was almost original w/ the exception of Kaoru's hand ^__^ Once again, thanks to you all for viewing my art, and I hope you liked it! ^^
