Interesting direction.

I do see people melding digital art with real backgrounds on occasion.

Have you got plans to do more like this? Like have a character climbing a tree or swimming at the beach?

You definitely could make some hilarious stuff.

Do you feel this exercise helps you in how your characters interact with objects and being proportionate to them?

It's a difficulty I've had, particularly when you also have to draw the object.

I see what you're doing here as a clever way to tackle that issue.
