Rotorua, New Zealand. I was half-tempted to find out what the place looked like, but it was late and we were hungry.

We got into Rotorua at about 8 PM. Even though it was Fall over there and off tourist season, I was struck by just how empty downtown was. Apparently Kiwis have no nightlife, and we struggled to find a restaurant that was a) still open and b) not a suit-and-tie affair. We eventually settled on Oppie's Fish & Chips, which won an award for best fries in NuZee in 2011, a fact local advertising bombards repeatedly although reviews on the street are decidedly less favourable. My chips were good.
