Stormfyre in a Predicament
Stormfyre in a Predicament by @andrkibe (Andrew Kibelbek)

A picture from Stormfyre's story. Stormfyre, an adolescent kestrel gryphon, was ranging away from his eyrie when he was captured by Arimathian hunters and taken back to their city as a trophy. Now left in a squalid pen, he wishes he'd never gone roaming alone. An old sketch revitalized with some new Photoshop techniques. Artwork © Copyright 2002 Andrew Kibelbek

Aww... Poor thing. I like the character's expression. It's very well-done, but what really caught my eye in the thumbnail was the lighting, which is no less handsome in the fullsize image. It's very three-dimensional and moody. Nice!

Thanks! I went back and strengthened the highlights and shadows at the request of a helpful critic. I think it really helped to clinch this picture's mood.

Thanks, the lights come from adventures with the blur tool and opacity settings.
