Reaptober 9: bog
Reaptober 9: bog by @Trezce (Lev)

New entry for #Reaptober since I missed the entry for yesterday and I got to post the entry for today.

Well, this was based on a dream I had: featuring a character of mine, Dolores, who befriended a mermaid from a bog. Just a simple friendship between a human girl and this creature. The interesting thing is the mermaid had the power to become human at will, so she could get out of the water and accompany Dolores on land. The mermaid was genuinely kind and she really appreciated her human friend

💗

I tried my best to adapt the mermaid from my dream since her appearance was quite weird

The face of the girl looks a mix between Coraline and Uncle Fester from the Addam's Family cartoon of the 90s.  The eye catching color and story book style artwork really adds to the appeal.

@XxTheCreativeKitsunexX:

Hahaha, thanks so much! few people tend to pay atenttion to her design and your comment is so on point. Truth is she's this way in order to not make her conventionally attractive by giving her a more cartoony look often seen in secondary characters in cartoons while the main character is usually made more attractive (though she was created 20 years ago, back when characters weren't so diverse)

Thanks so much for your kind words! I trully appreciate the feedback^^
