Kitsune concept art
Kitsune concept art by @ajfox (A Girtz)

Character development piece which, again, I seem to think needs to be a completed work.  The Japanese vibe retains it's inspirational grasp on my creative process this month, so why not take a shot at a subject I've wanted to try for a while?  The Kitsune.  I fought with myself on this one, going back and forth between serious work and simple concept, as I was more interested in giving this mythical creature it's own unique look & color set for my story line.  Not bad for a first look design, though changes will be made.  Also an attempt at auburn hair color.

Looks really sharp! These concept images of yours are a lot of fun! There's lots of details to look at.

@BadKarma: I appreciate it!  Along with character and backgounds, I hope to improve on details as well. It seems the older I get, the harder it is to get all the small or tiny details just right.

Looks very interesting, I especially like the human design, I like how expressive she looks!

Interesting work, also the coloring is so on point ♥️

@Trezce: Thank you, I appreciate it!  My goal was to give the Kitsune a distinct color and look, not just give a standard fox design with multiple tails.  I hope to improve on this in future works.  I'm glad to hear the color turned out, I always try to keep that balanced.

I noticed your human designs are VERY reminescent of J.Scott Campbell's work in terms of their style, the way the rounded faces and even the almond shaping of the eyes mimic J.Scott's work.  I would not be surprised you have read a few Gen13 and Jim Lee comics in your time.  I noticed the style almost immediately but didn't say anything till I was absolutely sure though I may be mistaken.  Still as a kitsune lover myself, I would say the kitsune femme fetale's design is absolutely gorgeous and it's rare to see a fur coloring like that. I only saw one other cream coloring like this and it was from Inu yasha from the character the neko-mata Kirara, only she sports a black tips on her tail and ears and not brown like your design has.

Excellent work as always
Keep it up my friend.

@XxTheCreativeKitsunexX: Thank you, I really appreciate it!  There was a sweet spot era a few years ago where I thought I had the human side of things down, but I somehow changed into things like bigger eyes than I would typically like to use.  I try to maintain a comicbook style to my characters, as I prefer a simpler, more dynamic look (if I can pull it off) then something more realistic or with higher detail, as it takes less time and thought to draw and color but is still satisfying.  I'm hoping to return to that soon.   I thought you might get a kick out of my attempt at a Kitsune.  As mentioned with Trezce, I hoped to give this special creature it's due with a very unique color set and design.  Something to set it apart from my usual fox work.  (multiple tails aside)  With version 1.0 in the books, this Kitsune will be updated and polished for future works.
