i’ve browsed wrestler characters in artfight and toyhouse cus of boredom and curiosity and i’ve noticed something people do sometimes and that is making mexican masked luchadors and calling them their real name, which is a bit contradictory because the tradition irl for mexican masked wrestlers is to NOT show their real identity to the public ever unless they lose the mask in a mask match, the mask loses its value if the identity is known, i mean there’s a reason as to why there’s masks in the first place theyre not just there to look pretty, one could do so much with a masked wrestler OC and some ppl end up calling them their real name… but i’m not the lucha libre police or anything to tell u how to make wrestler ocs ,,, but like, if you know the most minimum thing abt mexican wrestling you know about all that secret identity stuff, getting the mask torn/snatched by the opponent is a sign of disrespect bla bla
i would like to explain more to make sense but i’m tired bye

My Lucha guys have Real Names but they are never referred to them except for a few people suspecting that the rich guy ruining their town might also be the guy they hate on the weekend at wrestling shows...the person whose life he's trying to destroy is also his opponent in the ring. Then, a certain wrestler disappears from Japan years ago and reemerged wearing a mask in a small town to open a wrestling school, his first student was a wrongly accused fugitive on the run that he took in. So it's like no one ever mentions why you never see certain people in the same place???
@JediPrincess: that make sense with the story but the characters i've seen don't have like a ring name specified and are masked, so like, they wrestle with their real names XD
@JediPrincess:
btw do you have a place where you put info about your characters, like a toyhouse?
@Camazotz: No but I should do something with them eventually, I'm more of a writer than an artist when it comes to OC stuff though so it's more stories than art.
@JediPrincess: It occurs to me that lucha libre may have been the inspiration for superheroes (and supervillains) and their secret identities. El Santo, anyone?
@Thorvald: i always thought it was the opposite :p
@Camazotz: "Making his way to the ring, from generic town, Juan García!" his mask is transparent because there's no mystery there
Literally the only thing I know about lucha libre besides the costumes themselves is that The Mask is sacrosanct.
Like... seriously.
