My fourth submission to DYOS IX.
Stylesrj's reputation as a pain in the ass was partly down to what seemed like knee-jerk impulses to grab other people's threads and run. I don't know if it was deliberate, or he just wasn't paying attention when he came up with this nonsensical tangent where Sweden (a Union member state) tries to upstage Russia (another Union member state) because [???]—people were already rapidly losing patience with the schizophrenic story, and my leaning into this in a naïve belief I could correct course in-canon probably didn't help. My limited contributions to the thread were some of my least-inspired, and I have always harboured a shame that I directly, if unintentionally, helped speed its collapse. Suffice to say, Reinfeldt would never live this down.
Having Stéphane Dion (opposition leader) respond in place of Harper (prime minister) was a deliberate snub. You just know Harpy'd be down to dismantle Scandinavian welfare state...

@GenMarshall: The UN nonsense was DYOS 9, but the Partition was DYOS 5, so the Great Game was already well underway by then. :B
And as I recall, Canada didn't become a problem until after I started hinting I wasn't toeing New Port's line. Never forget: you practically signed off on the invasion!

Thus entering into an era of realpolitik within Coruscanti politics, and bleed into Vektan politics. Not to mention part of the list of grievances of the Coruscanti Nationalist Party (Vektan Nationalist Party, not so much as their ire is more towards tankies and rather keep the Republic and the Eastern Union at arms length apart).

I don't remember which DYOS Stylesrj did his little romp in Japan while taking control of the UN and abusing me with the Blue Helmets. Combing through the past, I'm more and more convinced that Stylesrj's romps set in motion to the Republic's expansionist period to keep things out of his hands (and a growing paranoia of the Eastern Union moving to Canada making them feel like theirs a Sword of Damocles hanging over their heads and kicking off a Thucydides Trap. If all else fails, blame Stylesrj :B.
