Norie
Norie by @uu-hime (Uta)

Decided to redesign my utau, Norie, a few months ago since I made a new bank for her recently. I noticed there isn't an utau userbase here? Which is odd because this place would be perfect for it. Utau is a lot like vocaloid, except instead of Hatsune Miku -- you get to make your own singer from their design to their voice. I went a little into her whole concept this time around so here's everything you'd ever want to know about her

Left is her new design. Her backstory is that she escaped out into the woods during development about 6 years ago, and is now considered a cryptid by locals since she hasn't been noticed frequently but her voice and presence can be heard and felt throughout the forest. Most people think she's a fairy or a benevolent spirit.

Her design is inspired by Nara Dreamland, a defunct Japanese amusement park that had become known as "abandoned Disneyland" by urban explorers until it was demolished in 2016-2017. Her color palette is lily white, daffodil yellow, and daisy yellow -- All three flowers symbolize rebirth. As an added fun fact: Her exterior and eyes are sun damaged.

My good friend Tadashi did a cover of Corpse Dance with her new voice if you'd like to hear her!

Right is her append, Norie TRUE. "Appends" just mean a different kind of voice -- and in this case, TRUE is a much stronger voice than her other one. TRUE also exists in an alternate universe where Norie was mass-produced.

She's meant to more closely resemble her original 2014 design, but more sheep-like -- including having a bell, shoes and gloves meant to resemble hooves, and sheep hair buns. The marks on her body are stylized doll joints, mostly added to make her look more futuristic. As another added fun fact: Her dress features baker-miller pink accents. Baker-Miller pink was scientifically created to calm the viewer

There are no covers with this voice just yet.

Wow she's so cute! I love her design and all the thought you put into it-the symbolism behind her color palette is lovely. I'm a sucker for bjds, so I find her really cute! Beautiful, clean lineart too btw!

@lovesick: Aaaa thank you! I love bjds, too -- though that's probably a little obvious lol. Also, I really appreciate that! I spent a lot of time researching everything I wanted to incorporate, so I'm really proud of how she turned out

I don't know much about Vocaloid, but I do know there's only so much of the same kawaii-desu squeaky voice I can take before I start to wonder if it's just a weeb thing or if the actual Japanese music scene is as pathological. :X A lower alto is a refreshing change of pitch. :p

@Thorvald: That's understandable! I'm not a big fan of the super kawaii voices either -- They can get really grating really fast. Fortunately, it doesn't make up as much of Japanese music as it appears lol
