Hi everyone, and a warm seasons greetings to all of you🎄!

This is West Knight, coming across the Orient to share with all of you my interest in old-time TV📺. Since DA has been increasingly a fusion of Facebook Marketplace and MidJourney dump (no disrepects to the AI artists who know what they're doing though!), I decided to try here to see what it's like. For the moment, it'll be a relay of what I've done on DA, the latter of which will still be the main platform for now.

I look forward to chatting to friendly people who understands what I do, and find a warm, cozy place. Best wishes!😉

W. Knight

Thanks for the warm welcomes, and interests into what I do!

So basically, there's a community that has a great interest into small bits of broadcasting, like the symbol shown before the shows (that's called ident btw).

The "mocks" they done with it are either their visions of how broadcasters can brand themselves at the present (like with the new BBC logo in 2021), or reimagining a different outcome in TV landscape of the past (What if A company continued to broadcast to this day, whereas it was replaced by B station irl). My works mostly lies on the latter.

Specifically, I'm focused on the British ITV network, which used to be a consortium of regional broadcasters until a change of the structure in 1990s. To simply put, they started in 1955, some broadcasters came and went in 1968 and 1982, some then were 'outbidded' monetarily in 1992, and were eventually acquired by each other to form a unified network in 2002.

This is a very, very condensed way of saying that - there's a Youtube series named ITV in the Face, produced by Matthew Harris/Bob the Fish Production/Applemask, which explored their histories region by region. It's a really good series, and I recommend you guys to have a look. It was also how I got to know that community too!

TV mocks had been a declining interest among these enthusiasts - from independent sites like Afternoon Programmes Follow Shortly in early 00s, to The Gallery section in TVForum, and a debate on should this be kept on its successor, TV Live Forum. With its closure this July, its successor, Pres Cafe, finally drew the line, as no recreations are allowed. So, that's why I'm on DA, and now, on Side 7.

For the styles, you can reference back to the sites I've mentioned: APFS and TVF, or an easier way to put it, the visual artifacts done by city pop singer Ginger Root in his MVs. Expect something like that, but done by a less-skilled amateur!

Hope that clears things up for some of you.
