Try Paint Tool SAI. It's the best freeware I can recommend. Unless.. did you need an app that can run on a phone, or a specific tablet's OS? I still use the Sketchbook app on my Oppo if I'm on the road without any other drawing options.
Procreate always looked great, but I'm not a fan of Apple products, or monthly subscriptions. If you can try it, though, go for it. I bet it's very empowering.
@Cynicallia: Funnily enough I used Painttoolsai years ago back in 2014 to 2017, this was also a time I also moved on from Painttoolsai to Krita, I still love Krita, I hope I clear it’s cache too(it crashes on me sometimes). I also didn’t know procreate has monthly subscriptions, that sounds too familiar. cough Clip Studio Paint cough
Krita always insta-crashed for me. I never had a chance to really enjoy it. I was hoping to try it because it offered symmetry tools, and at the time, none of my other software did. That was the main reason why I bought Clip. Alas, I'll never support Celsys again, since they made the decision to turn CSP into a subscription service, which will cost users so much more money in the long run, compared to a one-time purchase.
Side note: If you're interested in symmetry tools, there's a $1.00 app in the Microsoft Web store called Amaziograph. Best dollar I ever spent. You can use it to create tiled artwork (wallpaper designs), radial artwork (spider web / kaleidoscope / mandala designs), and mirrored artwork. It's a little clunky, but a lot of fun.
@Cynicallia: I honestly rather use Medibang and or Infinite Painter, alongside a few others, I'm still sad with knowing that csp became a subscription service, I frankly avoid anything with subscription services in general, including streaming services for tv, but that's a different story. Thanks for the suggestion for that symmetry tool program, I already have that tool in Infinite Painter.
procreate is pretty good, what do you currently use to draw?
