A specialist in armoured warfare, despite aggressive tank tactics in the field, his personal demeanour is cautious and subdued, with a particular dislike of "office politics". The de facto deputy to Maxim Brusilov, he briefly serves as acting chief of staff in DYOS X.ii while the marshal pursues clandestine liaisons abroad.

• Koldanev first appears as an anonymous background character during Thorvald's Berlin address in DYOS X; he was subsequently elevated into a permanent named character for DYOS X.ii.
• He is nicknamed "Little Dragon" for his short stature and tank tactics.

De jure superior officer. Koldanev appears to function as his deputy and confidant, and is aware of his connection to Kuraki Tojikawa.
