@Thorvald: aaa thank you thank you! x3 yes it was very much intentional structuring! <3 the eye's gaze pointed at the sword creates the primary pathway and then once you're down there I think looking from the cracks up to the mountain in the mid ground is a comfortable secondary pathway.
the title is just a line from "love is mystical" by cold war kids. :] I picked it since a) it was playing when I finished the piece and b) it had the word "hell" in it for the pit symbolism haha. the water part doesn't really relate to anything specific but it's fun that you connected it to the snow! :D
I get it: you either have to go down the fissure or up to the snowcap!
I don't know if it's intentional structuring, but there's a super-smooth visual progression both up and down from the distant sky to the foreground sword. I wish I knew how to embed these sorts of subliminal effects. :D
