Forest Path
Forest Path by @Fihyn (Fin Art)

HELLO!! this will be my last upload for a little bit (but I'll try to stick around and be active chat-wise) - and it's for something I'm really excited about; I'm working on a project to build a game! :D

it's not a "video" game, but rather a text-and-illustration-based game of the "choose your own adventure" variety. I'm building it on Neocities, and am currently about halfway done with the written blurbs and 1/3rd of the way done with the artwork (in total, the project calls for 32 illustrations and about 8-10k words of writing.) I've completed the coding, planning, and choice-mapping for the game parameters in their entirety at this stage and all that's left is to fill in the written and visual content.

The way it works is the reader first finds themselves on a forked path deep in the woods, and is given two "options" for where to go from there. It's written in 2nd person perspective, and each station that "you" arrive at will give you another set of two choices. There are five of these stations, 4 different choices to make, and 16 unique endings. I'm calling it "Forest Hill Adventure," and my original goal was to have it completed by early July, but it looks like it might end up stretching a bit longer and going into mid-to-late july.

Anyways, I'll be posting about it here for sure when it's complete! the artwork you see above is for one of the second "stations," so when I come to announce the project's completion I will likely upload the "starter" path image from the very beginning. I may also make a journal about it! I'm already super proud of this and I'm not even finished with it yet so I anticipate being rearing to plaster it just about everywhere haha

Ooh, I once tried to write a CYOA after discovering internal linking in documents... probably still have the file somewhere, not that it really got anywhere. :p Of course I'd mentioned the puzzle-game vibe of these landscapes, so it's entirely fitting that you'd actually make a game. I don't know whether the subforum is better or worse than journals for long-term exposure, though one can always just signal-blast all channels. ;P

I've only seen a few of your images so far, but I love your style. Deceptively simple but sharply graphic. Good luck with your game.
