Hornex the Hexxilian
Hornex the Hexxilian by @Agondray

More old art! I feel like I’m just digging at the bottom of the drawing barrel at this rate, as I made these guys when I was in late elementary. Whadda’ya know, something old that ISN’T from high school for once!

Anyways, this was a concept drawing of one of my oldest original characters, Hornex! He is a Hexxilian, which is this weird race of alien creatures I made up several years ago. Hornex himself is a teenage warrior-in-training taught under Dargon, his father and chieftain. He likes to explore and mess around with others, but does take his duties seriously should the need arise. His weapons of choice are a bronze short sword and a crowbar-like tool that he made himself.

He started life as my first Sonic OC! Yes, he was originally meant to be a Sonic fan character. He would’ve been hostile to Sonic and his friends at first, misguided into thinking they were a threat to his people by the true villain of the story(and no, it’s NOT Eggman!). Hornex would try multiple times and use different strategies to defeat Sonic, but mostly to no avail. Eventually, Sonic and Tails help Hornex realize that he had been deceived, and they work together to stop the real villain from enacting his plan. After that, the Hexxilian starts to trust the Blue Blur and co., and they basically bury the hatchet and become friends. Hornex would then have his own adventures with his own friends, fighting off against his own enemies. All this still taking place on Mobius/Sonic’s World!

Looking back now, I find it weird that I intended this guy and his kin to be ‘Mobian’, especially considering that the Hexxilians look nothing like traditional Mobians. Then again, neither did a third of the characters that appeared in the pre-reboot Archie comics. I also am not very fond of his name now, for certain reasons. I actually did consider scrapping him and the Hexxilians as a whole, until I started developing a new and more original story. At some some point during that, I thought of my weird Sonic OCs again, and decided to remake and rewrite them into a universe where they will fit in a lot better than the one they were in before.

Giving them new life, instead of throwing them like garbage. I’m also gonna be changing this guy’s name to something else! Ugh, Hornex!

1/5 of a series of drawings!

Aw, I think Hornex is a pretty cool name. Then again, I'm biased towards names with an X. May his next life be just as exciting as his original incarnation.

@Cynicallia: The reason I wanted to change his name was because I thought it sounded too similar to the word “horny”, and I didn’t want to give people the wrong idea about him. But I’m actually having trouble coming up with a new one to suit him. Now I’m starting to think it’s not such a bad name after all. I might stick with it!

Thank you so much! I definitely have plans for him in the future, so keep an eye out!

Also, I may have a bit of a bias for the same thing!

Wow! Cool looking character, I like the idea that he was a Sonic-fan character. :)

@Weasel_Silver24: Thank you!

I believe the reason he was originally a Sonic FC was at least partly because of my early exposure to the Archie comics(pre-reboot). I noticed how crazy some of the characters and storylines were, so I thought maybe something like Hornex wouldn’t be TOO out of place if he were in that universe.
