Claudia the Hexxilian
Claudia the Hexxilian by @Agondray

Another Hexxilian character I made in elementary, and so far the only female one I’ve drawn.

Her name was Claudia, and she was supposed to be Hornex’s girlfriend. I originally imagined her as being of a higher social status within her mate’s tribe, something akin to a princess. I gave her that fancy clothing to try to reflect this. She would’ve originally been sometimes the obligatory “damsel-in-distress” that Hornex had to rescue from time to time, but she would have moments where she would display acts of cleverness and even courage. She is a sweet and compassionate person, willing to help Hornex and others of her kin whenever they need it, usually in the form of advice or healing. She also has hair and lips for some reason.

Although I do kinda like the name ‘Claudia’, I think this character is one that’s definitely going to get a name change in the new universe she’s going to be in. Her original name sounds too similar to a generic human’s name, and I want it to sound more unique and be more in-line to her kind’s culture. She MIGHT get a wardrobe change as well, for the same reasons as her name. Her personality and relationship to Hornex will remain more or less the same, though!

What do think of her? (Also, please ignore that scribbled-out head on the right! That was just a mess up!)

2/5 of a series of drawings!

Princess lizard creatures are p freakin' sweet, if I do say so myself. How about having her name sort of match with Hornex? If he's the horn, she could be the claw: Clawdja (similar pronounciation as Claudia), Clavvex (looks like Claw + ex to match Hornex), Caylaw (pronounced like Kayla).. or, Skayla (scale), Tuth (tooth), Primadon (combination of Prima Donna and -don, like pterodon, for dinosaur)?

@Cynicallia: Thank you so much!

Those are actually some very good suggestions! I guess I could do some sort of naming pattern for all of them. Similar to how Saiyans have names that are related to vegetables(example: Kakarot - carrot, Raditz - radish, Broly - broccoli), I guess my Hexxilians could have names related to certain body parts!

@Agondray: Some families in my world have matching names. Nova's father (Whiptail) and his siblings (Whitelip, Shingleback, and Bluetongue) were all named after skinks, because that's their Bond (which is a similar concept to a clan or a tribe). Perhaps different ranks or castes in your world might have naming rules to distinguish them from others? Like, maybe fighters get tough names involving horns and claws, while caretakers might have names related to food, eggs, or sunlight? Creating societies is one of the fun parts of world building.

@Cynicallia: Using skink species names for your characters sounds pretty clever to me. If I didn’t know what a skink was, I would say those sounded like genuine clan or tribe names!

That’s another neat idea! I’ll have start playing around with those concepts and see what I can come up with.

Indeed! World building is one of my favorite things to do when developing my stories!
