A new spam geezer has appeared: ontoby, thankfully, he/she/it has only left the one spam message, but annoying spam message nonetheless

Man, these things don't give up.

Recently Uploaded art been hit hard, especially on artist Patrick Little's drawing BBC Bogo. Spammers: ontoby X6, eguidreysuza x10, and eedbeejona x58

Then, recently here at my Message center inbox have hit with 47 those spammers, which means other artists artwork hit too.

Sigh I am so bored of these annoying spammers, more spam comments have appeared on my Castle Greyskull 02 pic! I just wonder when they are going to get a clue, we are not going to click on their dumb adverts and links.... tis so stoopid :unhappy:

On Nov 16 spammer known as iiantanidamarcp struck image "Switchblade" x5 times, I got the notice in my Side7 inbox.

Then another spammer known astkohrtroge hitting here on the forums, selling watches.

On Nov. 20, mcoopermanmauro left a comment on my drawing "Flying Ninja Squirrel".

Sigh! Spam, spam, go away, never return again...

Another spammer has hit my gallery hard. I've tried to report him but the contact forms don't seem to be working? Besides html, his posts also have javascript that is hijacking page links and background images. (The comment forms seriously don't have any kind of filter???)

Not only that , but it seems we're still unable to delete spammer comments. Furthermore, Side 7 notifications are being flagged as spam by gmail.

Sadly, a whole bunch of my pics have received the same spam messages in the comments section. Is it possible to not allow html in the comments for the pics? So that when they try to submit the message, it displays a little message saying 'No html allowed' and they can't post until there is no html in the messages. Also, a limit to the number of characters allowed in the comments, say for example, only 500!? It's almost making me reluctant to submit art here and that is a huge shame!

Hey guys. I'm truly sorry you all are experiencing this. It's utterly frustrating for me, too. I've put some security in place against it, and they keep finding ways around it. I'm going to make some additional changes, probably tonight. And I'm going to see if I can add in a delete comment feature, too.

A 'Delete Comment' feature would be a welcome addition, preferably in the Image Management area, as the messages themselves in the gallery view kinda make the browser flip out and blocks the page from displaying. So a 'Delete Comment' or 'Manage Comments' feature would be very very useful!

The comment delete tool is in place. You will find it under gallery management. Let me know if there are problems.

Just seen how spam free the comments are, thank you very much! Also the Manage Image Comments feature is going to come in very handy if those spam bots dare show their badly written html faces again!

You're more than welcome. Amazingly, though, it's accounts that are getting not only signing up, but also getting confirmed, so they're fully active accounts. Not sure if the account info is then being configured into bots (which would seem to make the most sense).

But, that means I'll likely be adding CAPTCHA to comment submissions, whether you're signed in or not.

The feature is working great, though as well as the delete message feature is working nicely, I still get a ton of spam messages! Just had to delete more than 60 spam messages off just two pictures

Yes, thank you very much for this deleting comments feature.

I just deleted 40 off on my image "Batman - I Vow to stop these criminals...", and 36 off on my image "Doggie at the Beach". All of these since of March 17th, 21st, 22nd, & 23rd, I really wish these joker spammers would quit this yucky crap. I wish someone nice would comment instead.

Anyway.

Good grief. I'm really sorry about that guys. I just did some DB cleanup, so hopefully that will remove a bunch of those. I cleared out more than about 1000 spam messages.
