So over on CivFanatics there's an engine mod for Civ3 that fixes a lot of lingering bugs and adds a whole bunch of new features. The other day a user speculated whether it would be possible to dynamically tweak a civilization's name as it proceeds through the four game eras.

The idea is great; but a couple of us pointed out the example he used could be contentious, as the Kyivan Rus' were the progenitors to Ukraine, Russia and Belarus more or less equally, but certain countries have tried to assert themselves as the "legitimate" inheritor to denigrate the cultural autonomy of their neighbours.

Site moderation, which has a tendency to cling tightly to the Path of Least Restraint outside the Off-Topic board, swooped in and deleted a discussion of historicity as "off-topic" to a mod for a game about world history.

TL;DR: Support Ukraine, so long as you don't have to exert yourself.
