I've heard of it and visited recently to see if it was worth posting to but as you said it's pretty inactive. There's a few other old sites I know of that are still around so I'll list them here for others to check out.

  • Animexx https://www.animexx.de/ A German website but they do have an English option. Has options for galleries for fan art and cosplay, fan fiction plus Role Plays, Forums and Groups.

  • SoFurry https://www.sofurry.com/ Around since 2009 and still active with art, stories, photos and music

  • The Lion King Fan Art Archive https://fanart.lionking.org/ I used to lurk here as a kid but finally registered this year, fan art for Lion King or African based animals only.

  • VCL http://us.vclart.net/vcl/ You can't register here anymore but it's a treasure trove of old fury art. If you somehow still have access to an account you can post however.

Elfwood was also supposed to get a revival but that never happened, you can see the remains of what was going to happen on their Twitter account.

Why do we need never see Titan AE fan art or shipping, for example.

And we know why.

Rats, absolute rodents they are.

I forgot that whilst Elfwood is long gone their equivalent of MySpace/Facebook, "Elftown" is still up http://www.elftown.eu/index.html

The topic is making me feel like a archaeologist, digging up ancient art sites.

I really did adore Elfwood.

There was always this feeling of prestige and pageantry in it.

Similar to DA... But DA's was waaaay cheapened and diluted.

Difference in standards and ability to moderate I guess.

I uses Fanart Central too, where I posted some of my drawings there, among others

Cynicallia:
They aren't ancient, but they kinda dead and buried: Weasyl. I've been trying to get into the habit of posting there, but they seem to have lost the classiness that I remembered from like a decade ago. The recent uploads are always flooded with the same trash that soured FA, although, the UI and keyword blocking tools actually do work pretty well. It'd be even better if they offered a "remove followers" option, because "ignore" isn't great. If you un-ignore someone, they reappear as a follower on your list. (I didn't want to block my old, IRL friends, but we've drifted too far apart, and I'm not comfortable with them watching me any more.) Uugh, I'm rambling. Don't mind me.

I uploaded my newer artworks in Weasyl too

my gripe with weasyl was: mine got insufficient visibility there

I considered Weasyl.

But the way the site is designed, the way galleries are set up.

Not user or exposure friendly.

Just didn't feel a lot of the non furry artists were anything special either.

Yeah furry sites can be a bit weird because they want to be more than just furry sites but then the smaller ones just end up with the furries from the other sites that failed more so furries. Though at least you have the people who are amazed to see non-furry art after never looking at non-furry art. Also why I kind of prefer non-furry sites. I don't want to see /just/ furries :3 It's good that a site has more than just human oriented art though, even if just landscapes.

That was an early criticism of B*zzly: even though it wasn't consciously advertising itself as a furry site, most of the initial membership (including all principal staff except maybe ChStark) was Fandom, and it actually warded people off for fear they'd be drowned out.
