Deviantart's tutorial badges did distracts people from either working on my requests
fxdeviantart's domain expirations?
I agree. Part of the reason why my dress-up game was poorly archived was because I had to download most of my art one-by-one, and my original account was taken down before I got a chance to download that one, so it's gone now. I attempted to recreate it, but Adobe Animate hates my guts. As for customization, the most I could do for my own profile was add stamps, my site banner, and my birthday, because I can't trust myself to add custom backgrounds and not break the site.
your dress up games are Flash-based ones?
Weeewwwheeewheeew!
I scrolled through the whole thing.
That was horrible.
and at least some of the things there are too much for even me
Yeah, it was a flash game. I could probably recreate it using premade assets and slapping it together in Adobe Animate, but I would probably need a more powerful computer for that. The new one still needs a charger. T.T
I don't know, this just looks like a typical cringe comp in readable format. Granted, I'm not into gas stuff, and vore makes more sense in horror themed art to me, etc., but at least a few of the drawings they're gawking at look like they were most likely made by children, as expected. I should know as a victim of cringe culture.
I tried asking politely, so now I'm speaking firm: Do not use this thread to stir drama. This includes recent links to Twitter accounts devoted to "cringe compilations".
This thread drifted off-topic back on Page 4 and @BadKarma is on the verge of closing it for lack of discursive value.
True, apparently they also resorted to making users pay for core memberships, taking the money, and slapping them with the ban hammer without any warning regarding said user's actions, if at all. I'll see if I can dig up the thread again.
Well, I couldn't find the thread I was looking for, but I found this one where the same problem is mentioned in comments; https://www.reddit.com/r/DeviantArt/comments/1amks77/what_is_going_on_with_deviantart_banning_creators/ So DeviantArt will only issue refunds after you threaten them with legal action? Sounds like the current staff know what they're doing is illegal, but still intend on using their new site to scam people. Also, during my search, without naming names, I found a NSFW AI shill that likes kemonomimis, but their bio says furries aren't welcome around them, even though kemonomimis are a subcategory of anthro characters. Well, I'm not leaving. 🤷♀️
This thread has veered well away from its original subject, and is frequently being used to bring drama and hateful rhetoric to the forums. This has become problematic, as it puts Side 7 in a bad light. Already I've heard several reports of people being turned off from using Side 7 because of this thread. Side 7's mission is to be as welcoming to everyone as possible, regardless of skill level, and here you are posting a link to a Twitter thread that is mocking other people and their art. If you want to be that person, go post that junk on your personal website or Twitter feed. Not here.
If you're upset about dA and how they're handling their site or what actions they took, that's fine. But this is getting out of hand. It's gone from a discussion of the ways in which dA seems to be shooting themselves in the foot, to a drama-fest and point-and-laugh thread. That's not what Side 7 is about, and it will stop. @Thorvald is right. I'm very much considering locking this thread. Possibly even deleting it because of the poor optics it gives this site. This also goes for the other five threads that have been started just to bitch and complain about other services.

I'm all for the thread closing or being deleted, to be honest, I wish I didn't participate after what it's turned into. I'll stop replying in this thread to set an example after this.
It might be worth updating the site rules with a general "Please don't bring your personal off-site dramas/conflicts to Side7" so everyone knows from the get go signing up here that it's not the place for it. There's been a few incidents I've noticed but held my breath on because it's not against the rules to be banned from other sites or dislike people from there but the most recent one we probably all saw on the front page earlier this month (the expletive filled journal) was the final straw for me so I felt the need to raise it.
Yeah, in most situations, people have left their drama off of the site. But, recent activity has shown that that really does need to be spelled out in the rules.

In their infinite wisdom, they're now running ads on the notifications feed, featuring AI prompters earning X amounts of money on the site... Honestly, you'd be forgiven if you think messages like these are from an NFT exchange app.
It just doesn't sit right with me: Isn't this site a platform for POSTING art first, making money second? It just sounds like they're encouraging people there creating 'art' for the sake of getting the commission money flowing, not for enthusiasts sharing...
My DA profile has been on hiatus since late last year (largely due to personal commitments), and shit like these make me feel less tempted to return.
[My apologies if I'm bumping a nasty thread up, been a while since I visited it...]
"Getting the commission money flowing" is precisely it: The whole reason the Wix buyout happened was because DeviantArt was bleeding money (though they have never admitted it, even amid the price hike when they rebranded Premium Membership as Core), and corporate mismanagement chasing after every social media fad didn't help. The post-Eclipse pivot to Web3.0 is them chasing easy money: lure in paying users with DreamUp, who can then spam porn to subscription-based "premium galleries" and/or NFT-expy "Exclusives", and each step of the road dA takes a cut of the transaction. And as this ruthless corporatism scares off the principled artists, the paradigm entrenches further. Endstage capitalism is when you've exhausted sources of real value, so you turn to cannibalism to meet the quarterly growth forecast.
There is no saving DeviantArt. The way you're relentlessly pushed to monetize everything should make clear where their priorities lie. My biggest frustration with this thread's hijacking is that all our rage is impotent: they've staked their future in the AIndustry, and as long as enough "useful idiots" exist to shore it up, they have zero incentive to change. The question (and original goal of the OP) is how to secure a refuge for the dAssafected.
I'm more surprised you could reply to a locked thread. O_o But I think I know how you did it, so expect a patch-out soon.
